Contest Submissions

This week, I’ve worked hard to prepare the standalone novel excerpt, The Shadow, to submit to contests.  Success!  I submitted it to the Black Warrior Review Fiction Contest on Wednesday via Manuscripthub.com (as directed), making that deadline.  Today, I mail it out to two other contests, one at the Indiana Review and the other at Dogwood at Fairfield University in Connecticut, making those deadlines.

Back to work on essays and short stories — more new ideas for essays this week…..

  1. out of curiosity … what happens if more than one contest wants to publish your work? The type of decision I certainly hope you face! 🙂

    • The contests have different notification dates. Basically, the first one to either accept the story for publication or give it a prize is the one that gets the story. I’d need then to notify the other two that the story is no longer available.

Now, if there’s any change in the notification dates…. No, it’s still whoever’s notification comes first into my life.
